Mallow Salad Recipe

There are so many healthy products in nature, I think I will never get to know all of them. Mallow – ebegümeci in Turkish grows wild, probably if you are lucky to have a garden, you might have some just out there. Here is an alternative way to prepare a sallad with these mallow leaves.

Mallow leaves are good for many things; stops cough, good for stopping nose bleeding, prevents liver cancer, good for stomach and many more. You might consider making tea with these leaves too. I am sure you can find out expert advise about how to. I am here just for the salad.

Here is a picture of what the mallow leaves look like. If you want to be 100% sure or you cannot pick them up yourself, you can buy them in a market too.

Mallow LeavesPreparing the salad requires to cook the leaves before hand, as they have a sour taste. I have provided details about what to add in the below recipe, but it all depends on your taste. You can play around with quantities/measurements.

Instructions
  1. Wash well the mallow leaves. Bring about a liter of water to boil and add the mallow leaves. Cook in smirring water for about 5 minutes.
  2. When ready wash the leaves again under cold water and drain. Set aside to cool and then cut to edible pieces. Place in a serving dish.
  3. Sprinkle some salt, add the lemon's juice and drizzle the olive oil. Mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl chrush the garlic cloves and mix these well with the yogurt.
  5. Garnish with yogurt with garlic. You may choose to sprinkle red pepper flakes to add color and taste.
